Sawyer Turns Two!

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Can it be that Sawyer is 2 years old already? Yes and he is. And he knows it.
Me: Whose birthday is it today?
Sawyer: Me's!

When it's your birthday you get to decide if pants are optional. And today they were.

He really liked that candle. The candleholder looks just like him (and Finn).

Oh yeah. Kickin back with full tummies after a special birthday breakfast.

04/04, Oh Four

Finnegan is Four today!

We celebrated with a huge party on Saturday. Finn invited everyone, even some of the mannequins at Nordstrom's. Seriously.* The weather was a little cooler than we would have liked but that certainly did not stop the kids from jumping in the bouncy house, painting their wooden cars, hanging on the play structure, digging in the sand box and generally having a fantastic time.

Here he is getting some help with the candles from his buddies Mikey and Jackson.

I was shocked to see so many of the kids sitting at the table at once.
I guess they will do anything for some cake.

And, of course, here is Sawyer hamming it up for the camera.
At the end of the party he hopped up on the kiddie tables and did his best cat walk. Seriously.

*Finn walked straight up to the kiddie mannequins in the boys department and said, "Hey, you guys want to come to my party?" This was in January.

First Birthday Extravaganza

Sawyer and Momma pre-party.
Enjoying the comfort of the A/C. Who knew it would be in the high 90s!

Chillin' at the water table with cousin Connor.

The water table was a popular place.

As was the jumpy house.

Pinata time. No wild swinging of bats here. Jason held the pinata while the kids pulled ribbons from the bottom to release the goodies.

Cupcake time.

Sawyer got his own cake. I think he likes the fire.

This is what happens while Momma is busy serving cake to the rest of the party.

The next morning, all smiles.

Thanks Mom

Thanks Mom. It was thirty something years ago today at precisely 11:11 am that you popped out a 9 lbs 5oz baby girl. Me. Thankfully I have no memory of that.

But I do have memories of backyard birthday parties with Karol dressed as Minnie Mouse (the entertainment), angel food cake with vanilla frosting, a birthday spanking for each year of my life plus one for "good luck" and a "pinch to grow an inch" (guess all that pinching worked), waiting until after dinner to open presents (some families do it in the morning, you know), making a wish before blowing out the candles, re-blowing out the candles because we didn't get a picture on the first attempt, my 12th birthday when Eric gave me 12 sheets of binder paper (or maybe it was 14 on my 14th), the bronzed nickel from Kurt, when Steve and his buddies found a ball outside of Lakeside Presbyterian and brought it home for me (I don't even think that was my birthday but it certainly felt like it was), my 13th birthday when Dad declared I was officially a teenager in age and attitude, celebrating my 18th birthday at an Earth Day concert in Golden Gate Park, birthday brunches/luncheons at the Olympic Club and most recently our birthday trip to the zoo.

So, thanks Mom and Happy Birth Day.

Farm Birthday Party

We celebrated Finn's 3rd birthday at Emma Prusch Farm Park. Lots of running, playing and hanging out with the farm animals. I apologize that I did not take more photos of Finn and his buddies. If anyone has more photos please send them along.

Pre-party wardrobe malfunction. Got make sure the shoes are on the right feet.

My little 3 monster and his farm themed cake.

Chicks and sheep. Just like on the farm.
Sawyer with his GrandMommas.

Uncle Adam and Auntie Karol showed up in coordinating outfits with the birthday boy. Random.

Nora and Finn checking out the hen and her baby chicks.
